Nairobi National Park
Pick-up from your hotel at 6:30 AM, heading first to Nairobi National Park. 6:30 AM – 10:30 AM: Nairobi National Park Game Drive One of Kenya's original national parks, established in 1946 — 46 square miles of savannah just six miles from the city centre. Home to large populations of giraffe, wildebeest, eland, gazelle, lion, cheetah, buffalo, and monkeys, with Mt. Kenya and Kilimanjaro visible on the horizon (of the Big Five, only elephant is absent here). Bounded by the Athi River to the south, with hippo pools and two animal orphanages within the park. 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage Home to infant elephants and rhinos orphaned by poaching, cared for until they're eventually returned to the wild in Tsavo National Park. Watch the calves being mud-bathed and bottle-fed by their keepers. 12:30 PM: Lunch At a place of your choice. Afternoon: Bomas of Kenya A cultural showcase of Kenya's various tribes, including traditional dance and homestead displays.
